The “Abu Zekri” axis comes as one of the most important of these axes near the city of Alexandria, and this axis was named after Field Marshal Fakhry Fouad Muhammad Abu Zekri, in his memory, as he was considered one of the most prominent naval leaders in modern Egypt. of history, who held the position of commander of the naval forces. In the October War of 1973, apart from his role in planning the operation to destroy the Israeli destroyer “Eilat” in 1967.

This axis was implemented in the period from October 2020 to November 2022, in two phases, the first in a length of 35 km, starting from the desert road to the Sidi Kerir bridge, and the second in a length of 15 km from Sidi Kerir to the entrance to the city of Burj Al Arab, with the aim of interconnecting all parts of the province. , Reducing traffic jams and facilitating the movement of citizens, with the participation of 8 consulting offices, 15 contracting companies and 46,000 engineers, technicians and workers, and 15 investment zones were established near the axis in two phases; with the aim of attracting more investments.

The first and second phases included the expansion of the axis from 6 traffic lanes in both directions to 18 lanes with a width of 90 to 120 meters and the construction of 18 bridges with a length of about 18 kilometers.

Maintenance work was also carried out on 6 existing bridges with a total area of ​​130,000 meters, and 4,600 lighting poles and 7,100 lighting reflectors were installed, along with the construction of 25 electrotransformer rooms, with a total energy of 6,400 kilovolts.

A new electrical cable network with a length of 40,000 meters was laid, 700 palm trees and 3,300 fruit trees and 52,000 seedlings were planted, and 14 bridges with a total length of 14 km were built. 12 investment zones, as the first phase, on an area of ​​180,000 square meters. It includes numerous services including smart gas stations, electric charging stations, commercial units, coffee shops, car showroom area, 800 capacity mosque, two event halls with 200 capacity per hall, and cinema halls equipped with 3 state-of-the-art theaters. It can accommodate 500 people, and a tourist area that includes a modern hotel with a capacity of 70 cabins, a hanging restaurant that includes a group of different restaurants, and 3 more areas in the second phase.

The challenges faced by the project came in terms of the nature of the clay soil and the difficulty in removing the sediment to carry out the backfilling works. Purification of the salt layer at a depth of 3-5 meters, transmission of high-voltage lines parallel and at the intersection with the axis at a distance of 50 meters, securing transmission lines for oil companies, securing water supply and irrigation networks, in addition to preserving the lakes surrounding the axis.

The Bashayer Al-Khair projects are also considered as one of the national projects launched by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, divided into 12 phases in Alexandria and Beheira with the aim of removing slums and improving the living conditions of citizens, through the development of unsafe areas and their replacement with housing facilities equipped with all facilities and services. Al-Anab: from January 2015 to December 2022 and includes: Good News 1: Includes the implementation of 1632 housing units, Good News 2 First phase: included the realization of 1869 housing units, and Good News 2 Second phase: It included the implementation of 992 housing units units and Good News 2 The third phase: It included the realization of 1100 housing units.

The town of Bashayer al-Khair “3-5” in Al-Kabari included the construction of 15,200 residential units, 7,600 units were inhabited in Bashayer al-Khair “5”, with an occupancy rate of 53%.
In addition, 10,000 housing units were built, 7,360 units were occupied in Bashayer Al-Khair “3”, with an occupancy rate of 74%. Third: Bashayer Al-Khair City “5”, the third phase in Al-Qabbara, where the city was established on an area of ​​110 hectares, which included the construction of 186 residential buildings for a total of 9,672 residential units for the benefit of Bashayer Al-Khair Housing, with the establishment investment apartments in 77 Sakina buildings, which include 4,000 residential units.

As for the craft area in Al-Qabbara, it will be built on an area of ​​20 hectares, and will include the establishment of 1,580 workshops of various sizes, with the aim of establishing various craft activities.

The city on the outskirts of New Amriyah includes two phases, the first on an area of ​​550 hectares, which includes the construction of 964 residential buildings, with 50 thousand units, including 15 thousand housing units intended for social housing, and 35 thousand housing units Bashayer Al Khair “6-7 -8-9 In addition to the purpose of 480,000 square meters for commercial activities, and another on an area of ​​1,000 hectares, which includes the construction of 30,000 housing units for investment housing, in addition to the realization of an industrial zone of 490 hectares and the Omar Suleiman axis, the “eastern port”.

As for the new city of Bashayer al-Khair “4” in Rashid in the governorate of Buhaira, it is built on an area of ​​34 hectares, and includes the construction of 66 residential buildings with a total of 4,600 units, in addition to allocating 9,000 square meters for commercial activities in the city.

The suburb of Raya is located in Kafr El-Dawar – Al-Buhaira Governorate on an area of ​​360 hectares, which includes the construction of 805 residential buildings, with a total number of 36 thousand residential units, divided into 28 thousand units dedicated to the accommodation of Bashir Al-Khair “10 -11-12”, with 8 thousand housing units. risk capital In addition to allocating 200 thousand square meters for commercial activities.

Investment projects implemented within the framework of the political leadership initiative “Together we build the future” aim to establish several new urban communities, under the supervision of the Armed Forces Engineering Directorate and with the participation of civil society institutions. in Alexandria. Where 22.1 km have been implemented and about 55 kilometers are in the implementation stage, in addition to the preparation of the plan for the implementation of 191.5 kilometers to connect the axis with the Delta provinces and the Damietta branch with the Suez Canal, and includes many projects on its sides, including the Veranda project Smouha, which is the implementation of building 22 A, which contains 1,000 residential and hotel units of various sizes, with administrative and recreational spaces within a commercial complex with an area of ​​8,538 square meters, and the realization of the Jacaranda Compound project in the Al-Nozha area with a total area of ​​24,500 square meters, which contains 450 residential units, along with commercial space on an area of ​​3,800 square meters and the construction of the Raya suburb in Kafr al-Dawwar on an area of ​​260 hectares, where the construction of 22,000 residential units is planned, along with the realization of a large business complex on an area of ​​200,000 square meters.

It also includes the Montazah Palace Gardens development project in August 2020, where a presidential decree was issued to transform the park into a global tourist destination that will be the largest coastal park in the Mediterranean basin, serving 5 million Egyptian and foreign tourists annually, by increasing the number of hotel units from 225 to 926 units distributed between Salamlek Palace – Hotel five stars – Hotel four stars – Hotel Palestina.

As part of the development plan, numerous projects were realized, including the realization of 4 artificial lakes connected with 3 natural stone waterfalls on an area of ​​​​31 thousand square meters, which is considered new lungs for visitors and an additional factor of attraction, in addition to the lake that serves as a water tank for irrigating the gardens of the Montazah Palace with a total capacity of 20,000 m3/day.

Gates and fences were upgraded to a total of 2,600 meters, along with the surrounding facilities, including a “windmill, reservoir and clock tower”, and returned to the same old working mechanism, as well as the completion of the construction of 31 cottages for camping enthusiasts in the coastal forests.

Among the projects, the completion of the restoration of Salamlek Palace under the supervision of the Ministry of Antiquities, the reopening of the King’s Room, the Blue Restaurant and the royal apartments, along with palace services such as “health club, multi-purpose halls and restaurants.” In addition to increasing the efficiency of the 5 kilometer long “Blue Walk” Corniche. As well as renovations of facilities related to the island of tea, including the “tea kiosk, ponds and Montazah Lighthouse”.

The development plan also included the re-establishment of Paradise Village, in the style of Mediterranean seaside villages, with a total of 152 rooms on multiple floors, along with the re-establishment of the late President Anwar Sadat’s cottage, which has been turned into a historical and tourist attraction on the seafront.

A civilized garage with a total capacity of 2,278 packages for cars and 14 packages for tourist buses was also completed, a building for visitors, 4 reception buildings, and the conversion of the asphalt layer of roads into gardens. into environmentally friendly walkways made of natural materials with a total length of 18,500 thousand meters.

Development projects also included the Maria suburb project in Burj Al Arab behind the Egyptian Army Stadium, the Peace Towers project in Mustafa Kamel Corniche, the East Alexandria development project, which includes the new city of Abu Qir and the new island of Montazah, and the Jannat Project in the International Garden.
