Saafan opens a national seminar on the investment of insurance funds and their role in improving the lives of retirees

The Federation of Arab Pensioners, affiliated to the International Federation of Arab Trade Unions, in partnership with the Arab Labor Organization, held a national seminar entitled: “Investment of social security funds and their role in improving the living standards of pensioners”, in the presence of 11 Arab countries that are members of the federation: Egypt and UAE, Morocco, Sudan, South Sudan, Bahrain, Palestine, Iraq, Jordan, Libya and Kuwait.
In the presence of the Chairman of the Executive Council of the Federation of Arab Retired Workers, Muhammad Al-Hudayna, Ahmed Al-Nimr, Secretary General Safia Al-Sayed, Women’s Secretary, members of the General Secretariat of the Union of Arab Retired Workers, and Dr. Adel Muhammad Salih, Director of the Arab Center for Social Security in Khartoum of the Arab Labor Organization.
The host of the seminar is the Guest House of the General Union of Spinning and Weaving Workers in Shubra Al-Khaimah, at the invitation of Abdel-Fattah Ibrahim, the leader of the union. The seminar will last 3 days. Working documents were presented that dealt with the vision of the Arab Union of Pensioners on investments in social security, the ideal model that leads to the improvement of the living standards of pensioners, and the reality of investments by insurance institutions. Arab social studies, rules and standards for investing surplus social security funds, and methods of financing the social security system.
At the beginning of his speech, the former Minister of Manpower, Muhammad Saafan, welcomed the presence of the Arab pensioners, emphasizing the need to create a work map for the Union of Pensioners to ensure new investments of insurance funds in Arab countries, and to communicate with all Arab federations and unions to support Union, saying: The role will come to everyone, Whoever works today, will come to him tomorrow to be among the retirees, so we must work to support this union to invest in social security funds in the Arab world as the best investment, and to put these funds to work in a way that pays them off.
Saafan emphasized the importance of the role of social investments in social responsibility, the importance of implementing social decisions prescribed by law and ensuring social responsibility for retired workers, and identifying successful experiences in this regard and working on their exploitation.
The former Minister of Human Resources, Muhammad Saafan, emphasized the need to ensure social protection for retired workers in every Arab country, which is the necessity of respecting the contributions of workers during their working career, stressing that workers in the Arab world represent 90% of people.
Saafan suggested that a committee of experts from each Arab country be formed in charge of giving light and full support to the existing organizations, and our primary role is to support the existing trade union organizations.
Saafan said: Trade union work in general must support the member with complete devotion to God, because this work is the path to justice, emphasizing that there are trade union values ​​that must be worked on in order to preserve trade union work, and trade unionism must not exceed them, so nor affiliation, which is considered the essence of work. Belonging to trade union work and faith in it is an essential element of the success of the trade union task, as well as discipline and commitment, and the engagement of workers in all trade union and labor issues, emphasizing that trade union work is voluntary work, as well as the belief of workers in the work he does.
Saafan began his speech by introducing himself to the audience, stating that he joined the trade union in 1987 and started as the vice president of the union committee at Agiba Petroleum Company, graduating until he reached the position of president of the General Committee of the Oil Workers Union in 2012, and vice president The General Federation of Egyptian Trade Unions, and the General Supervisor of the Cultural Institution and the Workers’ University, and the Commissioner for Chairing the Board of Directors of the Workers’ Cultural Institution, was then appointed Minister of the Ministry of Labor in March 2016, emphasizing that the workforce is the fundamental pillar of the labor sector, at the top of which trade union organization.
For his part, Abdel Fattah Ibrahim greeted the members of the Arab World Pensioners Union and Minister Muhammad Saafan, noting that he is a friend and a friend who made a great contribution to trade union work when he was a trade unionist. in the oil sector and government work when he was the Minister of Manpower for 6 and a half years. He brought many achievements to Egyptian workers in general and irregular workers in particular, as his fingerprints still bear witness to during his tenure as Minister of Manpower.
Abdel-Fattah Ibrahim addressed his speech to the audience, saying: All the headquarters of the Spinning and Weaving Union are under the command of the Union of Arab Pensioners, and the union financially and morally helps the Union of Pensioners. All social economic issues of work.
